REVIVAL TIPS FOR THE CARE AND PRUNING OF PALM TREES
Advice from Randy Lemmon, from the Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show

This procedure includes Sago palms, Pigmy palms, Fan palms, Queen Palms, and all other palms.

After a hard freeze (palm branches turn brown), wait until new fronds appear to trim any brown branches from tree. The reason is that the plant energy has been flowing to the dead branches and to trim them from the tree redirects the energy to the new fronds and causes them to grow faster, twisting, and becoming deformed. To prevent this, as each set of new fronds grows out, trim another set of dead fronds from the tree. Continue this procedure until all the dead fronds are removed.

Fertilize all palms every other month with palm tree fertilizer. (A fast-acting palm food brand is Nutri Star.) Punch holes around the tree and place fertilizer into the holes and water in.

**Note- please refer to the approved plant list, in the Modification Design Guidelines, for approved palm tree types and their permitted locations.
