Area retailers are once again uniting for a worthy cause during Noah’s Hope Gift Market and Silent Auction, slated 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. November 14, 2010 at Bridgeland's Lakeland Activity Center.
Money raised will benefit Noah’s Hope, part of The DuPage Community Foundation 501 (c) (3), which supports research and raises funds and public awareness for Batten Disease, a rare genetic illness. Over time, affected children suffer mental impairment, seizures and progressive loss of sight and motor skills. The disease is always fatal. Noah’s Hope was founded by the parents of Noah and Laine Van Houtan, both diagnosed with Batten Disease. Mother Jen Van Houtan is the media planner for General Growth Properties, the developer of Bridgeland.
The market and auction will be held at Lakeland Activity Center and across the street at Festival Park in Bridgeland. In addition to shopping, there will be food concessions and activities.
Bridgeland hosted another charitable market and auction this spring, Alessandra’s Angels Craft Show and Silent Auction, raising money for pediatric melanoma research. Hundreds attended the event, which offered wares from more than 50 vendors and nearly 100 silent auction items.
